Salt Dough Handprint

Craft time!

I love trying simple, fun crafts with my daughter, that we are able to hold onto for years and years or even use as gifts!

With our son Grayson being 1 week old on Tuesday, I thought it would be great idea to try a craft that I've been wanting to do for a while now.

The Salt Dough Hand Prints

An easy, simple craft,
yet makes a great keep sake, and gift!

I've decided to do Grayson's foot print at 1 week old, as well as my daughters hand print at 4 years old. We plan on painting the inside of the prints once their done and cooled off, which Sierra is extremely excited for.

All you need for the ingredients is:
1 cup of flour
1 cup of salt
1/2 cup of water
Bowl

You mix together the flour and salt in the bowl.

Make a well in the middle and pour the water in.

Mix the dough together and knead until smooth and form into a ball.

I cut my dough in two, to make my sons foot prints, and my daughters hand print. I rolled each one into two separate balls, then flattened them.

I place one of the doughs on a plate, and pressed my sons foot into the dough, using the plate as a support.

My daughter was only able to make 1 hand print, since we didn't have enough dough for her to make both.

Once I had the prints deep enough into the dough, I place them on a cookie sheet, and put them in the oven at 200 for 2-3 hours until they fully hardened.

Once hardened, and cooled, you can allow your child to paint the prints. My daughter used acrylic paint that we bought at the dollarstore for 1.50$ each, which is a lot cheaper than buying them say at Walmart for 3$ each.

These make great little crafts to do with your children, and can make great gifts. Use them for tree ornaments for Christmas, or a little memory keepsake for family members.
